Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are slated to share the screen once again. The new film the two will appear in has been dubbed RIP. The film comes to audiences from Artists Equity. Still relatively new to the scene, Artists Equity has worked with both Damon and Affleck before on Air. Air, as well as featuring Damon and Affleck, saw Affleck take up the director’s chair.
Artists Equity is also heading up The Instigators, a new action flick for Apple TV+, starring Damon in the leading role. On top of Air, the two have appeared together in other films such as Good Will Hunting and Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel.
Serving as both the director and writer for the film is Joe Carnahan. Carnahan, usually serving as both writer and director, brought audiences The Grey, starring Liam Neeson, and the 2010 take on the classic TV show The A-Team. Carnahan also directed Bad Boys For Life, being the third film in the Bad Boys series. The most recent installment, Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, saw a fairly strong turnout at the box office.
At this stage in production, very little is known about the story of the film. Deadline, who was able to break the news, stated that only the vague description of a “crime thriller” was given. Deadline also reported that this film comes after Affleck and Damon attempted to get a similar film, called Animals, off the ground. Scheduling conflicts stopped it from taking off, however, making way for RIP.
There is no set release date for RIP as of yet.
