‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Continues Box Office Dominance’ With $26M, ‘Transformers One’ Premieres

The Josh Cooley-directed Transformers One has made its debut in 50 international box offices, with totals coming in below projections, per Deadline. Transformers One, an animated return for Hasbro’s Transformers franchise, earned $39M in its first week worldwide. Against $75M budget and exceedingly favorable reception during festival season, these figures fall below projected totals. These numbers represent about 40% of the total international pool, with large audiences in Europe, Asia, and South America yet to see a domestic premier.

Transformers One performed best in Mexico, where it earned $2.2M. It earned $1.5M in Australia, $820K in Japan, $625K in Panama, and $445K in Spain despite not reaching a No. 1 debut in any of the countries listed. Transformers One debuted at No. 1 in the Philippines ($430K), Ukraine ($135K), and Turkey ($120K). The film grossed a total of $3M in Imax sales.

In its third weekend of continued success, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice remains the No. 1 film globally, grossing an additional $17.2M overseas for a striking 37% drop. It now sits at $103M internationally and $329.7M globally. The countries that exhibited the lowest margin in ticket sale differential were Mexico (-19%), Spain (-25%), Italy (-28%), Brazil (-28%), and Belgium (-30%). Overall, the film has performed best internationally in the UK where it has grossed $23.8M. Mexico follows with $15.1M earned to date. France sits third with $7.6M earned, followed by Spain at $6.7M and Australia at $6.3M.
