‘Beauty and the Beast’ Hits $1 Billion in Worldwide Box Office

The magic of 2017’s live-action feature film Beauty and the Beast has charmed a new generation and brought in nostalgic fans of the 1991 animated feature to the tune of $1 billion in worldwide box office receipts. Through today, the domestic total is $454,649,751. Worldwide, it has pulled in $1,043,049,751.The Emma Watson-Dan Stevens starrer has already set records as the most successful live action movie musical of all time and as 2017’s domestic, international, and worldwide box office champion.

Through Wednesday, top overseas markets have been China with $85 million, the UK with $76 million, Brazil with $37 million, Korea with $34 million, and Mexico with $28 million. April 21st marks the film’s theatrical opening in Japan, signaling that the Disney juggernaut will continue its phenomenal run.

Beauty and the Beast set a domestic opening weekend record for the month of March, collecting $174 million in ticket sales.
