‘Avatar 2’ Image Reveals New Setting for Sequel

It’s been over a decade since James Cameron’s Avatar was first released and was the highest grossing film of all the time. The original, released in 2009, was just the beginning of highlighting what technology was becoming and can truly accomplish. Ever since it was announced that sequel was in the works a couple years ago, fans have been beyond eager. According to Cinema Blend, the sequel is finally becoming reality, and we can see a new location that will be in the film.

The producer of the film, Jon Landau, posted concept art for the sequel on his Instagram from artist Jonathan Bach: “Tomorrow, as part of our Behind Pandora stories, we will be featuring concept artist Jonathan Bach. In advance of that, I thought I would share a concept illustration he created of the Metkayina village.

This is just one of the many incredible images that he and the rest of our art department have created for the Avatar sequels. Thank you to everyone on the production design team!”. The image shows a stunning visual of what is to expect of the sequel. Landau has been posting images from the set from the long-anticipated sequel, including images of  Kate Winslet at the bottom of a pool.

Avatar 2 has a current release date of December 16th, 2022.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
