Veteran television producer Greg Berlanti will be taking his talents to the film world with the Gerry Duggan graphic novel series Infinite Horizon for Warner Bros., according to Entertainment Weekly.
The graphic adaptation will be based on a spec script by Ryan Condal (Hercules), who will also be executive producing. The story follows a nameless Odysseus-like soldier who finds himself on the opposite end of the world after a war. To return home, he must face larger-than-life obstacles and dangers bent on deterring his journey.
Berlanti has executive produced several small-screen series with Warner Bros., including Everwood, Dawson’s Creek, and the currently running The Mysteries of Laura. His most prominent successes, however, have been in DC Universe properties, with Arrow, The Flash, the soon-to-premiere Supergirl series, and another untitled DC spin-off show currently in development. Berlanti had small stint on the big screen with 2011’s Green Lantern, which performed below expectations at the box office. With a gradual return to film, Berlanti will be diverging from DC but continuing his relationship with Warner Bros., first with Pan, coming to theaters this fall, and then to take on Image Comics’ Infinite Horizon. Whether for DC or smaller indie comics, Berlanti has pledged allegiance to the industry’s dominating superhero world for the foreseeable future.
