‘Aquaman’ Early Screenings are Bringing “Good but Not Great” Reviews

As movie buffs, we all know of DC‘s struggle in recent years with its attempted competition against the massive world of Marvel and their incredibly successful films. Although they did have huge hit in 2017’s Wonder Woman, their lack-luster films including Suicide Squad, Batman V. Superman, and Justice League have shown the difficulty the superhero-themed films have faced.

As DC’s universe continues to grow, though, their films will hopefully take a turn for the better. As Warner Bros.’ Aquaman, starring Jason Mamoa and directed by James Wan, hits theaters for early screenings, though, it seems that the film may be lacking the spark they’ve been reaching for once again.

Early viewers are referring to the film as “good but not great” much in the same way as they viewed Justice League when their revamped Aquaman first appeared. The following tweets are the first responses about the film:

The biggest issue DC-lovers seem to be having with the film is that, unlike the distinguished and different style of other DC films, Aquaman has a very ” early Marvel feel” to it. Although it is not totally clear as to what audiences mean by saying this, we assume that Wan will likely take the constructive criticism and make changes to the film since they were simply test screenings.
