Ansel Elgort to Star in ‘The Great High School Imposter’

After stealing hearts of audiences in The Fault in Our Stars and Baby Driver, Ansel Elgort will be starring in the upcoming drama The Great High School Imposter from Participant Media and Condé Nast Entertainment.

The film is based on a recent GQ article of the same name by Daniel Riley. The article describes Ukrainian teen Artur Samarin, who pretended to be 5 years younger than his age to be adopted by an American couple and stay in the United States. He became a top student with big dreams of going to college until his secret was revealed and he was reported to authorities by his adopted parents.

Mike Makowsky (I Think We’re Alone Now, Bad Education) is attached to write the script and Jeremy Steckler will be producing.

Ansel Elgort’s other upcoming projects to look out for include The Goldfinch and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story.
