‘Angry Birds’ Sequel Gets New Trailer

After the success of the first animated movie based on the popular mobile phone game, a sequel to the 2016 Sony Pictures animated film, Angry Birds, seemed very likely. A second trailer was just released showcasing more gags and the story for this upcoming sequel.

The trailer starts out with Red discussing how things are now, after the first film, with everyone on their island living a peaceful life. Things are fine until the main antagonist from the previous film, Leonard, informs the birds of a new island discovered. With an inevitable threat on the horizon, the birds and the pigs team up to take down whatever threat looms on this mysterious island. Unlike the first trailer which focused more on the new character, Zeta, voiced by Leslie Jones, this trailer focused more on the characters of the previous movie and the slapstick many expected from the prior film. It seems more of the same for those who enjoyed the previous Angry Birds adventure so this new film might provide as much enjoyment for fans of the first.

Angry Birds 2 is set to release on August 16, 2019.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
