The North American rights to the Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and Luke Kirby (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) dramatic thriller No Man Of God, based on actual transcripts and conversations between serial killer Ted Bundy and FBI agent Bill Hagmaier, have been acquired by AMC Networks’ RLJE Films.
The deal was struck ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in June, directed by Amber Sealey (No Light and No Land Anywhere) and written by Kit Lesser. The film will be released in theaters this August.
Bundy (Kirby) was sentenced to death by electrocution in 1980. In the years that came, he agreed to reveal the specifics of his crimes, but only to one man, Hagmaier (Wood).
Aleksa Palladino (The Irishman) and Robert Patrick (Terminator 2) also star in the film.
“NO MAN OF GOD explores FBI agent Bill Hagmaier’s actual interrogation of Ted Bundy,” said Mark Ward, Chief Acquisitions Officer at RLJE Films. “A story that has never been told, NO MAN OF GOD brings a new and revealing perspective to the Ted Bundy story.”
RLJE Films’ upcoming features include critically acclaimed horror film The Dark and The Wicked from director Bryan Bertino; Adam Egypt Mortimer’s Archenemy starring Joe Manganiello; horror-comedy Psycho Goreman; the SXSW world premiere film, Jakob’s Wife, from director Travis Stevens; and David Oyelowo’s directorial debut, The Water Man, starring Oyelowo, Rosario Dawson, Lonnie Chavis, and Alfred Molina.
