Adria Arjona is set to walk down the aisle in the upcoming Warner Bros. remake of Father of the Bride. Andy Garcia is already onboard to play the role of Father and executive producer of the film, this time centered around a Cuban American family. Along with Garcia, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner will produce on behalf of Plan B, the banner behind Oscar-nominated Minari.
Garcia previously shared his enthusiasm to board the Matt Lopez-written Father of the Bride remake. He said, “I’m very excited to join the Father of the Bride, a beloved film that has brought so much joy to so many over the years and to represent my Cuban culture and heritage in this story.”
Directing the remake is Mexican filmmaker Gaz Alazraki, a writer, director, producer and creator of some of the most popular Spanish-language series. He is co-creator of the first original Spanish Netflix series Club de Cuervos, on which he executive produced and directed several episodes. He is also behind the record-breaking Mexican comedy Nosotros los Nobles (We are the Nobles), starring Karla Souza.
Puerto Rican actor Arjona will step into the bridal role previously played by Kimberly Williams-Paisley in 1991 and Elizabeth Taylor in 1950. Arjona is known for her work in 6 Underground, Good Omens, Emerald City and Triple Frontier.
She can be seen in the upcoming Spider-Man film Morbius with Jared Leto and Matt Smith, and the highly anticipated Star Wars series Andor alongside Diego Luna and Stellan Skarsgård.
