Colman Domingo (Michael) recently responded to Elon Musk’s attempt to recreate Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey with Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). On X, Musk posted, “Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer,” with an attached 3-minute clip of an A.I. version of the Odyssey. Colman responded during a monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, saying, “By historically accurate, he means whiter than Christmas at Cracker Barrel.”
He continued with, “Of course, this is all because Elon and his Musketeers are upset over the diversity casting of The Odyssey (2026). And I don’t want to get technical here, but you can’t make a historically accurate version of something that is totally made the fuck up.” Domingo is not the only one to respond back to Musk’s post. Scott Derrickson (Black Phone) made a post on X saying,”Clearly @elonmusk doesn’t know shit about cinema & he stopped reading in his 20s.” The post has since been taken down.
The statement to make a A.I. historical accurate version of the Odyssey is not the first time that Musk made a response to the film. Since the making of this film, Musk has taken to X to support those who disagree with the casting of the movie. He has responded to posts saying, Nolan has “lost his integrity,” and “Shame on Chris Nolan for desecrating Homer! He will never live it down.”
