Acquisition of ‘Wander Darkly’ by Lionsgate Brings Sienna Miller and Diego Luna Home This Fall

Lionsgate is rounding out their autumn lineup with their most recent acquisition.  The compelling and original Wander Darkly gained attention when it was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize after its premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. The buzz-worthy film is directed by Tara Miele (The Nomads) and stars actors Sienna Miller (21 Bridges) and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).

Wander Darkly promises to deliver something fresh yet familiar, as “Tara [Miele] weaves mystery and intrigue into a modern-day parable and we could not be more excited to work with her and the rest of the filmmaking team on the release campaign,” according to VP of Acquisitions at Lionsgate, Lauren Bixby.  Bixby also stated that, “the film is a visually stunning thrill ride through the complexities of love and loss between Sienna and Diego, who deliver wonderful and very moving performances.”

Tara Miele was the pen behind 2019’s The Nomads, about an inner-city high school rugby team, and credited as the sole writer.  Miele’s career saw a spike with her viral short film “Meet a Muslim” in 2016 and her works often include themes of social consciousness.  Thanks to Lionsgate, Wander Darkly will now be able to reach a greater audience with the film releasing on multiple platforms this fall, according to deadline.com.

Miele is “thrilled” to be partnered with Lionsgate for the release of Wander Darkly, stating that, “Seeing audiences’ powerful reactions at Sundance was moving and humbling and we can’t wait to share the film with audiences later this year.”  Coming in toward the end of a trying year, audiences can expect to be moved by the on-screen chemistry and duality of Miller and Luna’s romance this autumn.

51 Entertainment and ShivHans Pictures produced the film, with Lynette Howell Taylor, Samantha Housman, Shivani Rawat, and Monica Levinson listed as producers.  Mark D. Katchuer and Connor Flanagan are executive producers.
