A24 has just released a new teaser for their upcoming horror film Backrooms, directed by Kane Parsons, based on his YouTube analog-horror series of the same name. A review highlighted in the promo describes Backrooms as “Pulse-pounding and beautifully claustrophobic,” while another calls it an “unnerving atmospheric nightmare.”
“All these places, buildings, rooms, misremembering themselves. It’s a real mess, but also beautiful in a way, no?” Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character asks in the teaser. He, along with the rest of the cast portrayed by Renate Reinsve, Mark Duplass, Finn Bennet, and Lukita Maxwell, are seen navigating the tight hallways and eerily liminal and familiar spaces that reside in the backrooms.
The Backrooms teaser comes about a month after A24 released the first official trailer. Since then, traction has been gaining online and the film, which is set to open in theaters later this month, is garnering morbid curiosity through early reviews and marketing. A24 has announced they will be hosting an immersive Backrooms experience in Burbank, California, where they have invited guests to walk through and explore the creepy yellow halls of the backrooms for themselves.
Tickets are on sale now for Backrooms. The film releases in theaters on May 29, 2026. Watch the new promo here.
