According to Deadline, Ava DuVernay‘s new film, A Wrinkle In Time, will hit theaters April 6, 2018. The film is based off of an iconic children’s novel by Madeleine L’Engle. April 6th is the weekend following Easter in 2018. Disney thought this would be good date for the release because children will be off from school for spring break. Disney’s blockbuster and critical hit, The Jungle Book, premiered the same weekend this year and grossed $364 million, the fourth highest grossing film of this year.
Focus Features also has this spot saved for a stop motion feature by Laika (Kubo and the Two Strings).
A Wrinkle In Time will star Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Zach Galifinakis, Mindy Kaling (The Office), Chris Pine and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights).
