After finding an enormous amount of success with A Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, scribes Micah Fiterzman-Blue and Noah Harpster are making their directorial debut with an adaptation of Dash Shaw’s comic book Bottomless Belly Button, according to Deadline. It has also been reported that Bow and Arrow Entertainment have acquired the film rights for the director duo after previously releasing Native Son and The Little Hours for Sundance.

The story of Bottomless Belly Button follows a dysfunctional family known as the Loonys. Karolina Peysakhov will serve as the film’s executive producer. A Beautiful Day In the Neighborhood was a smashing success for the duo and their distributor Sony/TriStarm which accumulated a rating of 95% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and $44 million at the box office.
