The official trailer for Anthony and Joe Russo’s Cherry starring Tom Holland as a drug addict who becomes a bank robber to support his addiction, dropped Thursday. Cherry is based on real events that Nico Walker committed and, while he was in prison, wrote a novel of the same name that was published in 2019. Cherry is expected to arrive in theaters on February 26 and then premiere internationally on Apple TV+ on March 12.
Ciara Bravo (Wayne), Kelli Berglund (Now Apocalypse), Thomas Lennon (The Odd Couple), Jack Reynor (Midsommar), Michael Gandolfini (The Many Saints of Newark), and Jeff Wahlberg (Dora and the Lost City of Gold) round out the cast. The crime drama will follow Holland’s character through many stages of his life, from his time as a student, a soldier, an addict, and a criminal.
“It’s a story about the opioid crisis that involves the Iraq war, PTSD, heroin addiction, Oxycontin addiction, bank robbing,” Anthony Russo said. “It’s a very intense film, and Tom Holland is absolutely bringing it every day. We’re so impressed with his performance in this movie. It will be a very intense film.”
The year 2021 will be an incredible year for Holland as Cherry will be the first of his films to be released in 2021. Not only is Cherry going to be hitting theaters soon so will his other movies, including Chaos Walking with Daisy Ridley, a video game adaptation of Uncharted, and most anticipated untitled Spider-Man: Homecoming 3, which is set to be premiere in theaters at the end of 2021.
