Warner Bros. continues their Comic-Con presentation with the impressive first look at Kong: Skull Island. A re-imaging of the great ape story, taking place on an uncharted island in the Pacific, the film – directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The King of Summer) – on first impression appears bold and visually striking, with echos of Apocalypse Now scattered about visually and contextually.
The film, a ballsy new spin on the King Kong mythos, appeared to get a rousing first reaction from the fanboys and girls in Hall H. A striking one-sheet for the film was also just released in advance of its Comic-Con appearance.
The film features a stellar ensemble cast that include Comic-Con favorite Tom Hiddleston (High-Rise), Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight), John Goodman (10 Cloverfield Lane), John C. Rielly (The Lobster), Straight Outta Compton alums Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell and recent Oscar winner Brie Larson (Room). The film was penned by Max Borenstein, John Gatins, Dan Gilroy and Derek Connolly. Kong: Skull Island arrives in theaters on March 10, 2017. Check out the Comic-Con trailer below.
