The foundations for the upcoming film Porto Rico are steadily being built. Under the direction of music star Residente, the film has started to build up its array of leading talents.
Porto Rico follows a revolutionary native to Puerto Rico who gathers forces to prevent it from being colonized. In a last-ditch attempt, he gathers a group of convicts to help defend the archipelago and keep their identities intact, both as a people and as a nation. Deadline notes that the cast for the film is being led by fellow music artist, Bad Bunny. Making waves most recently for his Super Bowl LX halftime show, Bad Bunny isn’t a stranger to acting. His most well-known appearance is in 2022’s action/comedy Bullet Train, with other credited roles in Caught Stealing, Happy Gilmore 2, and F9.
Deadline was also able to note that the supporting cast is an all-star one, with some big-name talents. Alongside Bad Bunny, the cast is rounded out by Lord Of The Rings’ Viggo Mortensen, No Country For Old Men’s Javier Bardem, and Fight Club’s Edward Norton. Although he and Bad Bunny share a lot of musical experience, Residente’s film repertoire is more limited. His only other credited directorial work is Residente, an aptly-titled autobiographical film where he dives into his lineage and sees where his ancestors came from.
