DC Studios is moving forward with a sequel for the Man of Steel. The next Superman film will be titled Man of Tomorrow, as announced by James Gunn. James Gunn is returning to write and direct, with Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult returning as Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, respectively.

This also comes as the latest Superman film crossed the $600 million marker at the worldwide box office; the film is currently grossing $611 million globally. Gunn had previously hinted that work on the next film had begun, but it was unclear if that would be a straight sequel.
DC Studios has a few films lined up for the future, with Supergirl getting an official introduction on June 26, 2026. Also, production for Clayface is beginning soon, which is set to release on September 11, 2026.
Superman was considered a reset for the DC Cinematic Universe, with Gunn, Co-Head, alongside Peter Safran, also writing the screenplay based on characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film was released on July 11th and opened to $125 million at the domestic box office, and became the first DC movie to cross the $300 million mark at the domestic box office since 2022’s The Batman.
Additions to the main cast included Rachel Brosnahan, Wendell Pierce, Skyler Gisondo, Anthony Carrigan, Edi Gathegi, Rick Flag Sr. and Isabela Merced. The rest of the cast has not yet been confirmed for this sequel.
Man of Tomorrow will fly into theaters on July 9, 2027.
