A new trailer has been released for A24’s upcoming film Death Of A Unicorn. The project comes to audiences from director Alex Scharfman.
The film follows a father and his daughter who wind up encountering and, inadvertently, hitting a unicorn with their car. They bring the unicorn to a medical retreat, opening up countless opportunities, which will come at a dangerous cost.
The film features Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega in the leading roles, with the supporting cast filled out by Will Poulter, Richard E. Grant, Téa Leoni, and Anthony Carrigan.
Scharfman is responsible for also writing the film as well as directing. Most of his past film credits include working as producer on projects such as Andrew Semans’ Resurrection, Ira Sachs’ Keep The Lights On, and multiple films from Bridget Savage Cole and Danielle Krudy.
Hollywood Reporter notes that Ari Aster is working on Death Of A Unicorn as an executive producer. Aster is no stranger to working on an A24 production, with several of his works being released under the company. His 2023 feature, Beau Is Afraid, was released under A24, as well as Dream Scenario, in which he served as producer.
The trailer itself delivers moments that showcase the horror/comedy genre it’s tapping into while also not showing the titular unicorn itself. It doesn’t shy away from showing some of the carnage that is bound to unfold, featuring kills akin to that of a slasher flick.
Death Of A Unicorn hits theaters next year. Check out the trailer below.
