Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Tenet, Avengers: Age of Ultron) has joined Sony’s next Marvel flick Kraven the Hunter, in the lead role of this upcoming stand-alone feature. J.C. Chandor (Triple Frontier) will be taking up the director’s chair with the script being written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk.
Kraven is one of the most renowned and infamous antiheroes in Sony Pictures’ Marvel universe. He’s had run-ins with Venom, Black Panther, and many others and is one of Spider-Man’s well Known and powerful foes.
Kraven first appeared as a Spider-Man villain in 1964. Born Sergei Kravinoff, he believes himself the world’s finest hunter, a title he earned first via his skills in tracking and killing large wildlife, typically with his bare hands. But, in order to keep his title, he must consume a serum that gives him super-strength and stamina while also significantly slowing his aging. He’s known for wearing a jacket that appears to be constructed of a lion’s head and mane, with nothing much else on him.
Taylor-Johnson can be recently seen in a supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet. He finished filming in David Leitch’s Bullet Train starring Brad Pitt. Deadline has reported that Sony execs were so impressed with Taylor-Johnson’s acting in Bullet Train that they signed the actor for multiple films as Kraven.
The film will be released on January 13, 2023.
