In the 10th Fast and Furious movie, FAST X, Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) joins his crew to take on a revenge-filled threat that could destroy everything and everyone in Dom’s life. The story takes the audience through many countries trying to track down the villain and stay alive. Dom tries to keep his family safe while dodging attacks from Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa). The movie is an action-packed and twist-filled turn of events for the franchise.
To begin, I think that this movie was quite a lot to ask of the audience. The logic tends to get lost in these films, but putting that aside can be a fun ride. These Fast and Furious movies are starting to miss the original plot but keeping the same characters in the mix, which allows the franchise to keep producing more films. The characters are the same ones we know and love, with some unexpected cameos coming into play.
The dialogue was so essential even though it did its job; sometimes, it was cringe. Overall, this meant that the writing was not excellent for this, and the conversations did nothing to help the plot.
As for the action, that is what the movie revolves around, and though it doesn’t seem original, it is filmed well. The budget must have been huge because they had some fantastic scenes through famous cities which looked great. Honestly, the screen was always filled with something to watch. I liked the scenery in this movie and the background settings, which included places like Brazil, Portugal, and Italy. It gave the film a little bit of extra flair.
Personally, this was just what I expected from a Fast and Furious movie, just like the last one. This film was nothing too special or out of the blue, so it remains an excellent go-to action movie for fun. I don’t want to be biased because I am not a die-hard fan of these films, but this seemed to fit well with the series. I wouldn’t recommend going out of your way to see it, but if you are familiar with the characters, it is a fun addition to the story.
Score: 3.5 stars out of 5.
In conclusion, this was just part one of two parts “series ending” finale, or so we are told. I’m not going to lie; this upset me because nothing was wrapped up nicely in this film by the end of the two hours and twenty minutes. Who knows what the team’s next adventure will be and what sort of spin-off film will come of it? But, all in all, audiences keep showing up to watch these action-packed films.
