Lionsgate has cast Zoey Deutch (Vampire Academy) in its new road trip comedy, Dirty Grandpa. The film will follow Zac Efron (Neighbors) as an uptight young man tricked into driving his perverted Army vet grandfather (Robert De Niro, Meet the Parents) to Florida for spring break, right before his nuptials. Deutch is set to play an earthy environmentalist and potential love interest for Efron.
Directed by Borat and Bruno writer Dan Mazer, the film has already been slated by Lionsgate for an August 12, 2016 release. Until then, Deutch will cement her place as an up-and-coming actress in 2015. She has recently wrapped filming on Richard Linklater’s baseball film That’s What I’m Talking About, as well as on Good Kids with Ashley Judd (Divergent). She is also set to appear alongside Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) and Zoe Kravitz (X-Men: First Class) in the crime thriller Vincent-N-Roxxy.
