Zack Snyder To Direct ‘The Fountainhead’

Justice League’s Zack Snyder has just announced his directorial lead for the latest film based on Ayn Rand’s 1963 novel, The Fountainhead. Variety confirmed this news today.

Synder’s last completed film was nearly two years ago with Batman V. Superman, though he was involved in Justice League and had to back out of the production in May 2017 following a family tragedy, when Joss Whedon took over on his behalf.

The current film, The Fountainhead, follows a young architect named Howard Roark, whose dream of creating modernist buildings puts him in opposition with the architectural establishment.

The rebooted film comes from a 1949 adaptation featuring Gary Cooper as Roark of which has caught the attention of directors including Micheal Cimino and Oliver Stone. Snyder says he’s excited to tackle this saying he’s “attracted to the novel’s thesis and what it is to create something.”

In addition to the production of The Fountainhead, Snyder also is working on an Afghanistan war drama, The Last Photograph, but there is still the question as to whether the film will be completed.

More on this as details are made available.
