Zach Cregger, writer and director of the horror movie Barbarian, is releasing yet another horror movie for his second feature. Although the two films are in the horror genre, Cregger said Weapons is “a lot bigger and weirder than Barbarian,” according to Bloody Disgusting. The synopsis seems to follow group of children who go missing. There are many things that are uncertain, including why these children have left and where they went. Even with a new teaser shared on X, the film’s plot is still vague. The teaser highlights news headlines regarding the case of the disappearances, ending with a message that leads viewers to the film’s in-universe promotional website.

Collider gathered a quote from Cregger talking about the mystery, “That mystery is going to propel you through at least half of the movie, but that is not the movie. The movie will fork and change and reinvent, and go in new places. It doesn’t abandon that question, believe me, but that’s not the whole movie at all. By the midpoint, we’re moved on to way crazier s– than that.”

The movie has a stacked cast, which includes Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, Alden Ehrenreich, June Diane Raphael, Cary Christopher, Amy Madigan, Whitmer Thomas, Clayton Farris, and Toby Huss.

Weapons is going to hit theaters on August 6, where the mystery will be revealed.
