New Line Cinema has cast the young version of Ed and Lorraine Warren in their upcoming Conjuring prequel film, The Conjuring: First Communion. Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix are the two names attached.
Garrett Wareing was most recently in The Long Walk, where he played Stebbins. He is also a series regular on the Netflix show Ransom Canyon. He also had a role in Independence Day: Resurgence. Amanda Fix has had roles in several TV shows including Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen and Orphan Black: Echoes. She also will appear in Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival and hits theaters later this summer.
The Conjuring universe is the highest-grossing horror franchise of all time, accumulating over $2.7 billion total. It is no surprise that New Line wants to keep the franchise going, even after closing the book on Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga’s take on these characters last year with The Conjuring: Last Rites. Rodrigue Huart is directing the new film from a script penned by Richard Naing & Ian Goldberg. Huart was reportedly hired off a short film, so it looks like there is a lot fresh blood heading to this franchise. The film is currently eyeing a September 10, 2027.
