Woody Harrelson to Star in ‘Fruit Loops’

Acclaimed American actor Woody Harrelson, known for films such as Zombieland and White Men Can’t Jump, looks to be negotiating a deal to star in the upcoming film, Fruit Loops. This is sadly not a film about breakfast cereal (spelled Froot Loops) but instead a dramedy about a group of mental patients.

The project was written by American filmmaker, Ted Melfi (Hidden Figures, St. Vincent), and will also be directed by him. It revolves around a group of mental patients coming together when their hospital is sold. Harrelson will portray Colonel Leonard F. Cubby who is a PTSD suffering veteran who fought in Vietnam. Melfi will be working with Chernin Entertainment which produced both of his films, Hidden Figures and St. Vincent. They won’t be the only production power here, as the project is also set up with Fox 2000.

Fruit Loops is in the early stages of development and Harrelson is the first confirmed member of the cast. Shooting is believed to possibly start around May of this year.

Robert Thornson Jr.: My name is Robert and I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. I am pursuing a B.A. in Film and Media studies with hopes to work in the creative industry. I have always had a passion for storytelling and since youth I've loved film. I grew up loving the movies of directors like Wes Anderson, Stanley Kubrick, Alfred Hitchcock, Martin Scorsese, David Fincher, and many more along with writers such as Aaron Sorkin and Quentin Tarantino. One thing I have always done is write about movies and communicate to others information about the "film community" and the industry as well as about the films themselves. I write creatively on a daily basis.
