‘Wonder Woman’ Star Connie Nielsen Interested In Amazonian Spinoff

The Amazonians are looking to find more time on the silver screen as Connie Nielsen, who portrayed Hippolyta in Wonder Woman and Justice League, has expressed strong interest in creating an Amazon warriors spinoff according to ScreenRant. The sequel to Wonder Woman, titled Wonder Woman 1984, was pushed back to August 14th due to the coronavirus outbreak but Nielsen, despite being in isolation, is rather persistent to see a spinoff reach fruition in the near future.

In a interview with Coming Soon, Nielsen discussed the idea of spinoff film focusing on the Amazons. Although Nielsen did not go into great lengths about the film, the actress stated that she “would love to, we would love to do that.” Towards the end of last year Wonder Woman 1984, director Patty Jenkins announced at the Comic Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil that she and Warner Bros. were in discussion on a spinoff based around Wonder Woman’s native island of Themyscira. Jenkins further stated that the spinoff is “all mapped out.”

Despite the strong interest, it’s largely unknown when this Amazon-centered film will be released especially after Wonder Woman 3. The chance of us getting such a film will depend on the success of Wonder Woman 1984 and the upcoming third installment.
