The late, great Mr. Rogers is getting a very happy birthday this year with the release of an clip of an upcoming documentary, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?. The beloved children’s host, who for years, welcomed kids of all shapes and sizes into his home, would have been ninety years old today.
The documentary will include both archived footage from the iconic TV show, Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, as well as interviews from people who were touched by the kind and caring man who always had a kind word for every neighbor. The film is being directed by Morgan Neville, who has worked on a number of documentaries including 20 Feet From Stardom and The Music of Strangers. Fred Rogers’ widow, Joanne Rogers, will also star in the film about her husband. Focus Features serves as the production company for the film.
Watch the trailer below and be sure to see the documentary style film coming to theaters June 8, 2018. Mr. Rogers will also be the subject of future feature film, with Tom Hanks portraying him.
