Will Smith is set to star in the action-thriller Supermax. The film will follow two FBI agents who investigate a murder within one of the most secure maximum security prisons in the world. Smith will play one of the FBI agents, while his partner will be a female agent yet to be cast.
Supermax will be directed by David Gordon Green, known most recently for directing the recent Halloween trilogy and The Exorcist: Believer. His most recent film, the dramedy Nutcrackers, starring Ben Stiller, was released exclusively on Hulu back in 2024.
The film is written by David Weil and David J. Rosen, who will also serve as executive producers. Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman are producing the film through The Picture Company. In addition, Adam Fishbach is producing through Will Smith’s production company, Westbrook. Natalie Laine Williams will be associate producing. Other executive producers include Miramax CEO Jonathan Glickman, President of Film Alexandra Loewy, COO Thom Zadra, and SVP Spencer Ela.
Amazon MGM Studios is handling distribution. Production is set to begin sometime in mid-August. Additional casting on the film and other pre-roduction work are currently underway. Other details about Supermax, such as a release date, aren’t yet known.
