Matt Reeves Announces New And Returning Cast For ‘The Batman’ Sequel

The long-awaited and highly anticipated sequel to The Batman is rapidly picking up momentum. Matt Reeves, the director of both The Batman and its sequel, has been sharing some major news on the next outing for the Caped Crusader, confirming many rumors that have been circulating regarding the film’s cast.

The Batman opened with Bruce Wayne having already taken up the cowl, vowing to bring vengeance to the criminal underworld of Gotham City as Batman. But when a new threat uses his cunning to unveil a ring of corruption in the city, Bruce has to face his past while learning what kind of hero Gotham needs him to be. Robert Pattinson became the latest in a long line of actors to play Batman, and he will be returning in The Batman: Part Two. Confirmed to be returning alongside Pattinson are Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin.

However, Screenrant notes that Matt Reeves, after sharing a production sneak peek last week, is gradually confirming new and other returning cast members expected to join them on his X account. They have also uploaded a running tally of Reeve’s announcement tweets. Two supporting actors from the first film have been announced to be back for the sequel. Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez will be returning to the cast as well.

Three new major cast members have just been confirmed to be on board with the project. Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry have all just been announced to be on board by Reeves himself. Although rumors surrounding the project suggested several would star, it’s now set in stone, but with no word just yet on who they’ll play. Speculation does suggest that Stan will be playing Harvey Dent, who becomes the criminal Two-Face, with Johansson playing his wife, and Dance playing his father.
