Wendi McLendon-Covey Eyes ‘What Men Want’

Wendi McLendon-Covey, who has made many people laugh and cry with her role in The Goldbergs, is in talks to join the cast of Paramount’s new comedy What Men Want as the best friend of the lead character. Much like the new Overboard film headlined by Anna Faris, this movie is an opposite-gender twist on the comedy What Women Want directed by rom-com queen Nancy Meyers. Now, it looks like tables are turned and female lead will be the one reading people’s minds. The news was first announced by The Hollywood Reporter.

Adam Shankman (Rock of Ages) is attached to helm the movie. The story was written by Meyers. Academy Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson (TV’s Empire) will be playing the main protagonist with sudden new power. Aldis Hodge (who acted alongside Henson in Hidden Figures) and Tracy Morgan (The Clapper) are also in the cast.

Recently, McLendon-Covey has finished filming Sean McEwen’s comedy Whaling, which is currently in post-production and is currently filming Sony’s Goosebumps: Slappy Halloween.

What Men Want is currently in pre-production. Like many films, it will be shot in Georgia, as there are tax credits involved for productions created there. The comedy will bow in theaters in a little less than a year, starting on January 11, 2019.
