The master of gothic fiction, Edgar Allan Poe, gets five of his stories retold in the animated horror anthology film Extraordinary Tales. Director Raul Garcia (The Lion King) has stylized each story within the film to fit their respective tones.
Of Poe’s many classic works, the stories chosen for this film are The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of Red Death and The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar.
The film utilizes voices from a few legendary horror icons themselves, including the late Bela Lugosi (Dracula, 1931) through archived recordings, director Roger Corman (The Little Shop of Horrors, 1960), the recently deceased Christopher Lee (Horror of Dracula, 1958), and director Guillermo del Toro (Cronos, 1993).
Extraordinary Tales hits theaters and On Demand on October 23.
