Warner Bros. to Adjust Approach to DCEU

While over the past few years, Warner Bros. has been steadily building cohesive cinematic universe, it looks like this is no longer the ultimate priority for the company. Instead, the films will focus more on characters than on building a sprawling universe. However, before this elicits any confusion or upset, this decision could actually prove extremely beneficial for creators and audiences. Instead of having to heavily rely on established canon (such as the Avengers films have to do), these movies can explore a wider array of options, genres, and plots.

It also will help ease the possibility of brand exhaustion, which seems on the horizon for Marvel as the Infinity War films approach their release dates. Those upcoming installations in the MCU will help determine whether or not audiences can handle dozens of big name characters on the screen at the same time, source of confusion that the DCEU is wise to shy away from.

Dealing with more standalone films and movies based on less big name superheroes will also allow DC to set themselves apart more, while also improving chances of audience turn-out. A lot of times, viewers can get overwhelmed with the sheer amount of movies and knowledge that they’re supposed to have in their back pocket before a film, as each franchise superhero movie tends to build on the ones before.

While this isn’t the perfect solution for the issues that audiences have for the DCEU, it looks like Warner Bros. may be approaching a more refined take on the classic heroes. Hopefully it will all work out to create a set of new great films for the company!
