Warner Bros. Taps Director Chris McKay for DC Comics’ ‘Nightwing’ Feature

Continuing the DC Comics’ cinematic universe is Nightwing, Warner Bros. latest superhero outing based on the titular Batman-centric character. Warner Bros. just tapped Chris McKay, director of The Lego Batman Movie, to helm the new live-action movie, which will be his second feature-length film.

Nightwing is better known as Dick Grayson, the original Batman sidekick Robin. Robin was last played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, and Michael Cera voiced Robin in The Lego Batman Movie. Robin’s graffitied suit did appear in Batman v Superman last year, and Zack Sydner reported that he had already been killed by the Joker at that time (though he did not specify which one).

The DC Comics’ universe is growing quickly to compete with Disney’s Marvel cinematic universe, and audiences can expect to see Wonder Woman and Justice League this year, as well as AquamanGotham City SirensThe BatmanFlash and a Suicide Squad sequel in the coming years.
