Upcoming Animated Scooby Doo Movie Will Have a Celebrity Cast

The Scooby Doo franchise first debuted back in 1969 with the classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!  Since then Scooby, the cowardly canine, and the rest of Mystery inc. have appeared in countless spinoff shows, DVD movies, comics, video games, and even two live-action films that came out back in the early 2000s.

Now Scooby and the gang will be appearing in a new animated film simply titled, Scoob. Animator Tony Cervone will be directing the movie which is set to come out in the spring of 2020. According to Deadline, a cast list for the film has been confirmed. Legendary voice actor, Frank Welker, will be reprising the role of Scooby-Doo, which he started voicing some time after Scooby’s original actor, Don Messick, passed away.

Welker is well known for voicing the character of Fred Jones since the first show in 1969 but in this movie, Fred will be voiced by actor, Zac Efron. As for the rest of the gang, Gina Rodriguez will be playing Velma, Amanda Seyfried has been cast as Daphne, and Will Forte will voice Shaggy, who was originally voiced by the late Casey Kasem.

Other famous Hanna-Barbera characters will be appearing in Scoob including Captain Caveman, who will be voiced by Tracy Morgan, and Dick Dastardly who is being played by Jason Issacs. Also, the Blue Falcon and his sidekick the bumbling Dynomutt will be appearing, and they will be played by Mark Wahlberg and Ken Jeong respectively.
