‘Until Dawn’ First Look Teaser

The popular horror video game Until Dawn is receiving a film adaptation. On January 14, Sony Pictures Entertainment released a first-look video on their official YouTube channel. The first look allows us to hear from David F. Sandberg, Gary Dauberman, and Peter Stormare as they talk about the upcoming film and the thought process behind making it.

For those who are unaware, the video game Until Dawn is a choose-you-own-adventure game with many cinematics. Essentially, it is a playable movie. When making the film adaptation, the filmmakers did not simply want to rehash the story from the game.

They say that it is instead a continuation of the game. It brings in characters and puts them in a time loop, where they must survive “until dawn.” The filmmakers chose this concept to put a spin on the many different variants of story that you can experience while playing the game.

The synopsis of the film reads as follows:

“One year after her sister Melanie mysteriously disappeared, Clover and her friends head into the remote valley where she vanished in search of answers. Exploring an abandoned visitor center, they find themselves stalked by a masked killer and horrifically murdered one by one…only to wake up and find themselves back at the beginning of the same evening. Trapped in the valley, they’re forced to relive the nightmare again and again – only each time the killer threat is different, each more terrifying than the last. Hope dwindling, the group soon realizes they have a limited number of deaths left, and the only way to escape is to survive until dawn.”

According to the first look, we can expect to see a full trailer soon.
