UK Trailer for ‘Dom Hemingway’ Showcases Wit and Grit

The first trailer for Dom Hemingway promises another great entry into the tradition of gritty, English crime-comedies popularized by Trainspotting, Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and RocknRolla.

Earlier we reported that TIFF would include the premiere for Dom Hemingway, new film featuring Jude Law that was written and directed by Richard Shepherd (The Matador, The Hunting Party, TV’s Criminal Minds).  Critics who had the chance to catch the film garnered it with praise. Kevin Jagernauth, at IndieWire’s “The Playlist,” said Dom Hemingway was, “laugh-out-loud funny and impressively, wittily written,” and Peter Debruge at Variety had nothing but praise for Jude Law’s performance, saying “Law has long wanted to leave his mark on the British gangster genre, and his patience pays off in this case.”

The trailer (below) doesn’t pull any punches on the laughs and shows off the stylized nature that UK crime flicks are famous for, but a quick read through of the reviews out of TIFF suggest that there’s a deeper, more personal layer contributed by Law’s supporting cast (most notably Game of Throne’s Emilia Clarke). Regardless, Dom Hemingway looks like a breath of fresh air for Jude Law and a good-time for audiences worldwide.

Movie-goers can look forward to seeing Dom Hemingway in the U.S. April 4th, 2014 and in the U.K. this November.
