Two Monkeypaw Productions’ Films Undated By Universal

Over the holiday weekend, Universal has undated both of Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions films. The films had previously been slated for September 27 and Christmas Day of 2024. These changes are strike-related, and it is now to be determined when both of these films will make a return to the calendar’s line-up. Amidst these changes, Universal has replaced the Christmas Day release with Robert Eggers’ rendition of Nosferatu and Lionsgate has now placed the latest installment of the Saw franchise, Saw XI, in the September 27 slate.

The film formerly slated for September 27 comes from Peele’s production company, but is not being directed by him and is described as a horror thriller; while the film formerly slated for Christmas Day is being directed by Peele. Currently, there are no details on who is writing or directing the former film. Originally, the untitled horror thriller was expected to make its debut five days after the releases of two other highly-anticipated films: Avatar 3 and Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

Additionally, the Christmas Day release would have marked Peele’s fourth directorial work after his Oscar-winning debut hit Get Out (receiving four nominations and winning the Oscar for Original Screenplay), his sophomore release Us, and his latest title Nope.
