Two Classic Imbeciles Will Go To Space In ‘Beavis and Butthead Do The Universe’

Two of America’s favorite idiots from the 90s are returning this year with Beavis, and Butthead Do the Universe.  It has been reported that Mike Judge is reviving the long-dormant cartoon duo this year for Paramount +. The film will follow the two titular characters in 1998 after being sent to a space camp by a court official.  While there, they find themselves on a space shuttle that gets caught in a black hole and brings the two into 2022.  It seems we will be getting a fish out of water story with the two teens with a very specific style of juvenile humor trying to make their way in a world full of social media and technology.

It had been previously reported that there would be an older, middle-aged version of the characters in the film, so we can only assume that the Beavis and Butthead of the past will meet with their modern selves for some sort of hijinks.

This will be the pair’s second feature film after 1996’s Beavis and Butthead Do America. For those of us who grew up in the 1990s, that original film was something special. It still retains a 70% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is often referred to as an underrated classic.  We can only hope that writer, director, and voice actor Mike Judge can recapture some of that comedic lightning with this latest film.

Beavis and Butthead Do the Universe will release on Paramount+ later this year.
