The Divergent Series: Allegiant picks up right where its predecessor Insurgent left off as Tris, Tobias and the rest of the faction system defectors are fleeing their city in the hope of discovering freedom as well as solving the mysteries of their society’s origins.
The first teaser trailer for the third installment reminds audiences where the story has been thus far. While Divergent fractured the faction system and Insurgent shattered their society’s infrastructure completely, Allegiant will explore where they will go from there as Tris and Tobias discover the world beyond the walls and the protective agency in place called the Bureau of Genetic Welfare.
Shailene Woodley and Theo James both return as Tris and Tobias, respectively, while newcomer Jeff Daniels (TV’s The Newsroom) joins the series as David, the head of the Bureau. Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Zoe Kravitz, and Naomi Watts are also returning with Robert Schwentke directing once again.
The popular young adult adaptation will hit theaters on March 18, 2016, with the final and recently re-named installment, Ascendant, slated for a year later on March 24th. Check out the trailer below.
