Trailer Out for One of Cory Monteith’s Final Movies

Director Josh Waller’s (Raze) sophomore effort McCanick saw it’s first trailer release today ahead of its Toronto International Film Festival premier. Take a look:

It certainly has the potential to be a compelling thriller, but McCanick is getting a publicity boost for a decidedly tragic reason. Among the faces in the trailer, you may have noticed that of Corey Monteith, the late Glee star, as Simon Weeks, the druggie ex-con David Morse’s detective is so intent on finding. McCanick was one of Monteith’s final films before, in an irony that will grow no more palatable with time, he was found dead from an overdose on a mix of drugs and alcohol.

As mentioned, McCanick is the second feature project from Josh Waller, who is currently at work producing Elijah Wood’s horror/comedy zombie movie Cooties. It co-stars Morse (World War Z), Rachel Nichols (Star TrekG.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra), and Mike Vogel (The Help, She’s Out of My League), and it will be among the films seeking to pick up a distributor at TIFF.

Monteith’s other work yet to release will also premier at TIFF. Written and Directed by Gia Milani, her feature debut, All the Wrong Reasons is a dramedy about employees at a department store featuring Monteith as the store’s manager, James. James finds himself pushed away with from his wife (played by Karine Vanasse, Polytechnique) as she struggles to deal emotionally with a family tragedy, so he strikes up a relationship with the cashier (Emily Hampshire, My Awkward Sexual Adventure).
