Trailer for ‘My Friend Dahmer’ Explores Teenage Years of Future Serial Killer

How does one become someone who can inflict the cruelest of pain to others? My Friend Dahmer was a 24 page self-published graphic novel that detailed the early years of Jeffrey Dahmer up until he murdered his first victim a mere two weeks after he graduated High School; who later became one of the most infamous serial killers in American History. The graphic novel received wide critical praise and several nominations. Written by real life friend John Backderf, the film titled My Friend Dahmer is based on his work, which was published in 2002.

The film stars Ross Lynch (Teen Beach Movie) as the teenager who eventually will become the infamous serial killer. The film will also include Alex Wolff (Patriot’s Day) who is Dahmer’s friend John Backderf, or simply Derf. Vincent Kartheiser (Tv’s Mad Men), Anne Heche (Aftermath), and Dallas Roberts (Tv’s The Good Wife) also star. The film had its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 21st and was acquired by FilmRise, who are planning to release the film sometime this fall. The film is written and directed by Marc Meyers (How He Fell in Love).

Witness the origins.

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
