Gravitas Ventures recently purchased the rights to An Actor Prepares, a new comedy starring Jeremy Irons and Jack Huston. The movie also stars Ben Schwartz, Matthew Modine, Will Patton, and Mamie Gummer. Steve Clark serves as director and writer from a script that he co-wrote with Thomas Moffett. They first announced the film at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival.
After suffering a devastating heart attack, a famous alcoholic actor, Atticus Smith (Irons) must hastily drive across the country to attend his daughter’s (Gummer) wedding. The best hope he has of making the wedding lies with his estranged son, Adam (Huston), who begrudgingly agrees to help even though he wants nothing to do with his long-absent father. The pair set out on a humorous adventure, becoming closer and realizing they are more alike than they would like to admit.
Variety notes that Laura Florence, VP of sales and marketing for Gravitas Ventures, says that “Jeremy Irons and Jack Huston make a hilarious father and son duo in this delightful comedy.”
Gravitas will release An Actor Prepares in theaters and on demand on August 31. Check out the trailer below.
