Trailer for ‘Colette’ Starring Keira Knightley

The trailer for the upcoming biopic Colette, starring Keira Knightley as the writer for which the film is named and Dominic West as her husband, is now available via Bleecker Street.

Colette was an acclaimed twentieth-century French writer who, as is shown in the film, struggled through an abusive marriage in which she worked as her husband’s ghostwriter –  and later became a bestselling novelist and a nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature. The film also explores Colette’s sexuality and her relationship with the Marquise de Belbeuf.

The trailer is exhilarating, visually beautiful, and dark, showcasing Knightley’s gripping performance as well as the dramatic trappings of 1920s France and incredible costumes. The film is directed by Wash Westmoreland.

Colette comes to theaters September 21.
