Trailer for ‘Billionaire Boys Club’

What’s the difference between a bad guy, and a good guy who does bad things? Billionaire Boys Club, a remake of the 1987 film starring the inimitable Judd Nelson, aims to answer that very question. The film is based on the true story of the real-life Billionaire Boys Club that made headlines in Southern California during the 1980s.

The film follows the trail of destruction left behind by investor Joe Hunt (Ansel Elgort) as he sets his sights on amassing fortune through various illegal activities and Ponzi schemes. Con man Ron Levin (Kevin Spacey) complicates matters when he becomes involved with Hunt’s legally nebulous operation, tossing a monkey wrench into Hunt’s plans, and putting a target on Levin’s back. Inevitably, Hunt’s ambition and hubris threaten to collapse his precarious house of cards.

Billionaire Boys Club is a biographical crime drama directed by James Cox, who co-wrote the screenplay with Captain Mauzner. Along with Elgort and Spacey, the film also stars Taron EgertonEmma Roberts, Cary Elwes, Suki Waterhouse, Judd Nelson (playing the father of the character he played in the 1987 film), and Billie Lourd. You may be wondering how Spacey managed to not get replaced by Christopher Plummer, especially in a movie with “Boys Club” in the title, and the only easy answer seems to be that maybe his morally bankrupt character gets what’s coming to him early in the film.

The movie is scheduled to be released by Vertical Entertainment on August 17, 2018. Check out the trailer below.

I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, playing video games, singing badly to pop songs in the car, eating delicious food, and drinking fine alcoholic beverages. I play basketball when my crippling knee and back pain allows, and I try to hit the gym on a regular basis. I have a son and a sugar glider, and when I'm not combing the internet for breaking news I am likely traveling or riding my Razor scooter.
