The first trailer for Anne Hathaway’s (Les Miserables) new indie drama, Song One, has just been released. The story follows the young archaeologist Franny (Hathaway), who after racing home to see her injured brother, begins a relationship with his favorite musician.
Set within the Brooklyn folk music scene, the soundtrack features original music from artists Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice (Bolt). The film was written and directed by Kate Barker-Froyland, making her feature film debut, with Hathaway also serving as producer. Song One still did not have distribution after debuting at Sundance this past January and making the film festival circuit, until finally getting picked up at Cannes by The Film Arcade.
Once the film is released however, it will undoubtedly attract those fans of the Oscar-winning actress who are eager to see her return to her more charming romantic roles, in the vein of One Day, Love & Other Drugs, and Becoming Jane. In the meantime, Hathaway will continue her high-profile career as she promotes Interstellar, and prepares for her starring roles in the Nancy Meyers comedy The Intern (which reads as The Devil Wears Prada in reverse,) as well as the Alice in Wonderland sequel.
