Trailer for ‘All the Wilderness’ Starring Kodi Smit-McPhee

By way of Screen Media Films comes a trailer with an interesting visual aesthetic and a promising soundtrack. Premiering at last year’s SXSW festival, first time filmmaker Michael Johnson’s All The Wilderness stars Kodi Smit-McPhee (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), Danny DeVito (TV’s It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), and Virginia Madsen (Sideways). It tells the story of a young boy (Smit-McPhee) still dealing with the death of his father, and his troublesome relationship with his mother (Madsen), all chronicled through his conversations with a psychiatrist (DeVito).

All The Wilderness has the familiar feel of the teenage coming-of-age story structure to it, but the trailer does promote a really great visual flair with some gorgeously lit scenes and an interesting musical score accompanying the images. While Wilderness isn’t boasting a bevy of star power, the film does have an impressive, if unassuming list of names. It also stars Isabelle Fuhrman, who many will remember as Esther from 2009’s Orphan.

All The Wilderness is slated for a February 20th limited theatrical release, but will also receive a run on VOD.
