This is the way. The trailer for the newest film in the Star Wars saga, The Mandalorian & Grogu, has been released to fans following its very limited showing at Star Wars Celebration.
Last time fans saw Mando and Grogu, they managed to finally thwart Moff Gideon’s plans and reclaim the planet of Mandalore to its rightful people. Now the duo is back, recruited by the New Republic to help bring down Imperial remnants still struggling after the destruction of the Empire.
Returning to the role of Din Djarin is Pedro Pascal, who has been supplying the voice of the character since season one of the show. The Mandalorian was one of the launch titles for Disney+ back in 2019, instantly winning over audiences. Mando himself, not to mention Grogu (more commonly known as Baby Yoda), have become major icons of the franchise, rivaling characters such as Darth Vader or R2-D2.
The trailer, which was noted by Hollywood Reporter to be very action oriented, finally gives fans their first good look at sci-fi legend Sigourney Weaver in the Star Wars universe. The Aliens and Avatar actress was confirmed to be joining the film some time ago, with the trailer showing that she’ll be the one to reach out to Mando and ask for his services to bring down the Imperials. A big set piece the trailer banks on is even an AT-AT, the armored behemoths first seen in The Empire Strikes Back, being toppled presumably by Mando and Grogu before it falls down a steep cliff.
Jon Favreau is attached to the film both as director and co-writer. Although he may be most well known to modern audiences for directing Iron Man, the genesis of the MCU, Favreau is also one of the co-creators of The Mandalorian. The other creative mind behind it is Dave Filoni, who is also slated to help pen the script. Filoni is very well known in the realm of Star Wars, thanks to his creation of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and many other projects that take place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters May 22nd, 2026. Check out the trailer below.
