Travis Kelce has been everywhere—on the football field, on dates with Taylor Swift, and now on the big screen in Happy Gilmore 2.
In an interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Kelce discussed his role, sharing, “I believe I’m in a few scenes,” and adding, “I have a hefty load in there.” He filmed his scenes during an off week, squeezing Hollywood into his busy NFL schedule. On working with Adam Sandler and his production company, Happy Madison Productions, Kelce said, “It was off the chain! They’re so professional, yet so fun. Sandler is every bit as cool off-screen as he is on-screen. Man, that was a dream come true.”
When asked about award potential, Kelce humbly responded, “I don’t think I’m up to that caliber of actor yet,” and joked, “I don’t even know if I’m in that much of Happy Gilmore to win an award,” flashing his wide smile.
Aside from Allstate and Subway commercials, and being named host of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, Kelce’s acting debut was in Ryan Murphy’s FX series Grotesquerie. While the plot of Happy Gilmore 2 is under wraps, it’s clear Kelce is carving out a name for himself in entertainment.
The sequel to the 1996 comedy reunites Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore, Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin, Ben Stiller as Hal L., Allen Covert as Otto, and Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson. New cast members include Bad Bunny as Happy’s caddy, alongside Margaret Qualley, Benny Safdie, Nick Swardson, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi).
Cameos abound, featuring Kelce, Eminem, Dan Patrick, Becky Lynch, Reggie Bush, and golfers like Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler, Jack Nicklaus, and Jordan Spieth.
The original Happy Gilmore, directed by Dennis Dugan, followed a hockey player-turned-golfer using his unique style to save his grandmother’s home. Released by Universal Pictures, the film grossed over $82 million globally and remains a comedy classic.
With a mix of familiar faces and fresh talent, Happy Gilmore 2 promises to bring laughs and surprises.
